About The Opportunity
JDL Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a hyperscale, AI and cloud-focused data centre platform business, delivering large-scale digital infrastructure across Europe, as they look to appoint a Chief Development Officer.
This is a permanent, executive-level position, flexible across Europe, reporting into the CEO and working closely with the executive leadership team. The role offers a competitive package commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the identification, evaluation and acquisition of new development opportunities across the platform's target European markets.
- Own the origination and negotiation of land, power and site agreements, working closely with legal, technical and commercial teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with landowners, utilities, authorities, investors and strategic partners to secure new capacity.
- Define and execute the platform's growth and market entry strategy, prioritising opportunities that meet investment criteria.
- Lead due diligence for new development opportunities, coordinating input from engineering, legal, commercial and finance teams.
- Represent the business at executive level with investors, partners and industry stakeholders.
Requirements:
- 15 or more years' experience in data centre or large-scale infrastructure development, including senior leadership of a development function.
- Strong track record of sourcing, negotiating and closing land, power or site acquisition deals at scale.
- Established network across landowners, utilities, authorities and investors within European data centre markets.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with experience managing due diligence for major capital projects.
- Comfortable operating at executive level, reporting to the CEO or board and engaging with investors.
- Experience in a fast-growing, platform-scale business is highly desirable.
