Global Director of Engineering
Location: UK preferred, with international travel across Europe and Asia.

Role Overview

A leading global data center developer is looking for a Global Director of Engineering to lead its multidisciplinary engineering function and provide technical leadership across its international portfolio.

The role will own and continuously develop the Global Reference Design, ensuring it remains commercially competitive, scalable and aligned with evolving customer requirements and technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a global multidisciplinary engineering team across MEP, Architecture, BIM, Civil, Structural and Controls.

• Own and evolve the Global Reference Design and engineering standards.

• Provide technical leadership from site assessment and acquisition through design, construction and commissioning.

• Ensure engineering decisions balance CAPEX, time to market, customer requirements, constructability, resilience and operational performance.

• Drive standardisation and repeatable solutions across the global portfolio.

• Lead engineering input into site assessments, feasibility studies and development decisions.

• Establish engineering governance, design assurance and technical standards.

• Support Commercial and Sales teams with customer RFIs, RFPs and technical due diligence.

• Act as the senior technical authority for complex engineering issues and major project decisions.

• Partner closely with Development, Delivery, Procurement, Commercial and Operations teams.

Experience

• Senior engineering leadership experience within data centers, hyperscale, colocation or other mission-critical infrastructure.

• Strong understanding of data center design, construction and commissioning.

• Proven experience developing engineering standards/reference designs across multiple projects and geographies.

• Strong commercial acumen and ability to balance technical requirements with business outcomes.

• Experience building and leading high-performing multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong customer and stakeholder management skills.

• Willingness to travel internationally.
